Privacy policy
Naro connects Office files on your Mac to Google’s editors. This page explains what the app accesses, where it goes, and how you can remove it.
Who provides Naro
Naro is an independent application developed by Sergei Sakharovskii (@plexideas). This policy covers the Naro macOS app and this information website.
Google account information
When you sign in, Naro requests your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture to display your connected accounts and let you choose the right one. Authorization happens in your browser; Naro does not receive your Google password.
Naro requests openid, email,
profile, and
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. The Drive
permission allows access to files created by Naro or explicitly made
available to it. Naro does not request permission to read your entire
Google Drive.
Documents and synchronization
When you open a file with Naro and select an account, the app uploads that file and its filename directly to your Google Drive. The browser opens Google’s corresponding editor. While Naro is running and online, it checks linked files for changes and downloads saved updates to your Mac.
Google receives the document content and account-related requests needed to provide these services. Google handles that data according to its own privacy policy and your account settings. Naro does not send documents to a developer-operated backend.
Information stored on your Mac
- Sign-in tokens and connected account details are stored in macOS Keychain.

Local document paths and bookmarks, Google file identifiers, account
associations, synchronization metadata, and opening history are stored
under
~/Library/Application Support/Naro/. - Before overwriting a local document, Naro keeps a backup. Conflicting versions are preserved. Backups are not automatically deleted.
- Profile photos are fetched from Google. macOS may cache image responses locally.
How the information is used
Naro uses Google account and document data to provide sign-in, account selection, file opening, synchronization, recent-document history, and recovery copies. The current app contains no advertising, analytics SDK, or developer-operated telemetry service. Naro does not sell this data or use document content to train AI models.
Naro’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Disconnecting and deleting data
Removing an account in Naro deletes its locally saved authorization and stops synchronization for that account. It does not delete your local documents, backups, opening history, or files in Google Drive.
To revoke Google’s authorization, remove Naro from your Google Account’s third-party connections. To remove local history and backups, quit Naro and delete its Application Support folder after saving any backups you need. Removing that folder alone does not remove sign-in tokens from Keychain; disconnect accounts in Naro first. Remove uploaded files separately in Google Drive if you no longer want to retain them. Local support data remains until you delete it.
This website
This website is prepared for hosting on Netlify. It does not add analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, or cookies. When hosted on Netlify, the hosting provider may process technical access information, including IP addresses, to operate and secure the website, as described in the Netlify Privacy Policy. Repository and support links open GitHub, whose handling of that activity is described in the GitHub Privacy Statement. Opening other external links takes you to the corresponding provider’s service.
Questions and changes
For general privacy questions, contact the maintainer through the Naro repository. Issues are public: do not post documents, passwords, tokens, or private account details. This policy will be updated when the app’s data handling changes; the date above identifies the latest version.
